Overview

Elk Street is getting a big upgrade! This street is close to schools and busy community areas, so the Town is working to make it safer and better for everyone—whether you drive, bike, or walk.

What's Changing

The street will be fully rebuilt. The new design includes a multi-use path for walking and biking on the north side, two driving lanes, a parking lane, and a sidewalk on the south side. This layout will make the road easier to use and more enjoyable for all residents.

Why It Matters

This project will improve safety and traffic flow and encourage more people to walk or bike. It’s also a chance to use modern construction techniques and plan for future growth in this area of town.

How You Can Participate

While the reconstruction is well underway, updates will be shared as the project moves forward. Residents will be informed about timelines, road closures, and how to stay safe during construction. Your cooperation and input during construction are always appreciated.

What Will Be Done With the Feedback

Any concerns or questions raised by residents during the project will be shared with the project team. Feedback will help ensure communication stays clear and that any disruptions are managed with the community in mind.

How should residents arrange leaves for fall leaf collection?

For Phase 1 (between Talbot and Victoria), residents should follow the standard practice of pushing leaves to the curb. Bagged leaves are preferred and will be picked up quickly.

For Phase 2 (between Victoria and John), residents should bag leaves for the time being until construction progresses a bit further. Crews are aiming for base asphalt the week of October 13.

For planned works that may cause local resident disruptions in relation to utilities or driveway access, field staff aim to provide at least 24-48hrs notice to local residents.
