Aylmer Receives Grant Funding for Purchase & Installation of Benches
The Ontario Government, through the Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone (EASE) Grant 2025-2026, has awarded the Town of Aylmer $57,859.84 to support the purchase and installation of accessible trailside benches and picnic tables in several Aylmer Parks.
The project, which will see the installation of accessible benches and picnic tables with firm, level surfacing along the trail network linking the Town’s key parks and green spaces, is intended to address deficiencies identified in the Town of Aylmer’s Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
By providing accessible rest and gathering areas, the project will support increased outdoor use by older adults, people with disabilities, families with young children, and others who benefit from barrier-free amenities. The overall aims of the project are to create a more inclusive outdoor environment, promote physical activity and mental wellness, and offer equitable access to public amenities.
“This funding is an important investment in our community’s health and well-being. Our parks are enjoyed by residents of all ages, from families and youth to seniors. The addition of accessible trailside benches and picnic tables will help ensure our parks remain welcoming, inclusive spaces where everyone — including those who may face barriers to access — can rest, gather, and enjoy Aylmer’s beautiful parks and trail system. On behalf of Aylmer Town Council, I thank the Government of Ontario for this support.” – Town of Aylmer Mayor Jack Couckuyt
