Elk Street Reconstruction Update: Phase 1 & Road Closure

Location: Elk Street – Talbot Street East to Victoria Street South

The Phase 1 Closure will include Elk Street from Talbot Street to Victoria Street South

Road Closures and Access:

• Closure of Elk Street, between Talbot Street East and Victoria Street South, will commence Monday, March 31, 2025.
• Elk Street, between Talbot & Victoria Street, will be closed to through traffic, but local traffic will still be able to access the area.
• Driveway access may be interrupted periodically during construction. Advanced notice will be given to all residences affected.
• Commuters are asked to follow the marked detour routes.

Works Scheduled for March 31-April 4, 2025:

• Installation of temporary traffic control signage and detour routes
• Layout and commissioning of temporary watermain (Phase 1)
• Pulverization of existing roadway asphalt
• Sawcut and removal of private driveways and curb and gutter

Construction Safety:

• Please respect the work zone.
• Use caution when using the street or sidewalks near construction limits.
• Maintain a safe distance from any moving equipment, stockpiles or trenches.

Further construction updates will be provided to residents as the project progresses.
